Be a part of a knitted thesis!

Not just the standard sort of knitting ethnography/socioanthropological study, either. A knitted. Thesis.

An acquaintance of mine is currently a senior in the Folklore and Mythology department at Harvard, and part of her thesis will be the gathering of textile-related folk tales and the creation of a mixed-fiber-art art piece based on those fairy tales. Check out her blog of the process at The Knitted Harvard Thesis Project! She’s looking for people to contribute their favourite fairy/folktales, mythology, or items of “popular antiquity” that have to do with textiles. I submitted 鶴の恩返し (The Repayment of the Crane), which is one of my favorite Japanese fairy tales.

Julia’s a great person, and also on Ravelry as scarlettb. Won’t you go help her out?

  1. Oh, wow, Debbie, thank you so much! This is so sweet of you to pass on!

    • I was happy to! It seems like such a cool project, and I’m excited to see how it progresses.
